Once in a while Twitter does something so amazing that it needs to be recognized. If you haven’t heard about the HashFlag movement then you need to wake up and get with the times. During the World Cup on Twitter if you use a hashtag (#) and the three letter abbreviation for that country the nation’s flag will show up in your tweet as an emoticon.
Only the 32 teams represented in the tournament are part of the HashFlag movement so those of you in Scotland, Denmark and Ukraine (teams in FIFA Top 30 not in the WC) are going to have to sit this one out. This feature was used in the 2010 South Africa World Cup as well and now brought back for Brazil. So go crazy with your World Cup tweets!
