The European Champions, Real Madrid, are making quite the fashion statement this year. They’ve kept their legendary “Los Blancos” home jersey but have turned to extreme measures with their road and alternate threads. As you’ll see below Gareth Bale is wearing the bright pink (they call it fuchsia) and white away jersey which is like nothing we’ve seen before. No, it has nothing to do with Breast Cancer Awareness, it’s just a bold statement introducing a color that has never been present in the club’s 112 year history. I think the pink looks great both on the players and in FIFA 15 but clearly not a good look for an overweight fan walking through the mall. Real Madrid also introduced a new 3rd kit, the “Yamamoto Dragon” jersey. The dragon is named after the Japanese designer who thought of this unique design. The dragon symbolizes greatness, glory and the power of the club.
Outside of Real Madrid there aren’t too many fashion forward looks this season in the Spanish La Liga. FC Barcelona has their traditional blue and red vertically striped jersey and introduced a fluorescent colored polo style uniform which you’ll see at Juventus, PSG and Manchester City as well in different colors. Newly promoted Elche CF introduced a unique black and gold third kit which an enlarged team crest is faded into the gradient design of the jersey. We’re seeing that a lot more across Europe not sure I like the look but it creates for an interesting visual experience.
