The rest of the world is a pretty broad area obviously but outside the Power 5 leagues there just isn’t enough time or bandwidth for a deep dive into each country. The smaller leagues are where you find diamonds in the rough, there are some classic kits you would never know existed had it not been for the FIFA series. Some of the jerseys are spectacular in terms of design but their advertisements are where the entertainment comes in. In America most of these companies or business are foreign to us (no pun intended) so we have no idea who they are or what they do. When you see “Just Eat” on the jersey it’s funny. It’s comical to see what other people are putting on their jerseys considering none of our professional sports currently have sponsorships at the moment. There are ads from prostate cancer awareness to ice cream companies.
One of the best kits in the world is actually a domestic team who flies under the radar here on the East Coast. The Portland Timbers jerseys are awesome. Their home, away and alternates are all expertly done. I would be proud to rock those if they were my local team. Some other callouts go to the teams of Mexico and Colombia who continue their trend of radical kits. Once again we see a familiar theme of having animal imprints on the design of their jerseys. There are heads of Jaguars and Tigres on three different teams in those areas. In Mexico it looks to be a competition to see how many advertisements you can fit on one jersey.
Who knew that the Saudi Arabian league would have such creative jerseys? One would think their jerseys would’ve been primarily white and simple due to the contrastive and conservative nature of their region. That is 180 degrees from the truth. Their jerseys are colorful, they’re innovative and nothing like anything else in the world. Go spend some time and look at those jerseys below because the teams of Al Shabab, Al Nassr and Al Taawoun deserve the recognition.
