After what seems like five years of waiting, Arsenal have founded landed the striker they’ve been searching for. The Gunners have been waiting in the weeds watching Alexandre Lacazette for years and finally they pulled the trigger and signed the French goal scorer from France’s Ligue 1 side Lyon. The signing will be a club record for Arsenal who are rumored to be paying Lyon £46.5 million on a five year deal.

I’m torn about this signing because I love Lacazette as a player but naturally I hate Arsenal as a Chelsea supporter. I don’t like to see Arsenal with a goal scoring threat that I think can help their cause and they just signed him. What Arsenal decide to do with Alexis Sanchez is yet to be seen but if they keep both that duo is pretty formidable. It’s a massive upgrade over Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck, like going from a Kia to a Mercedes Benz.

Last season he scored 37 goals in 45 games, the season before that 23 goals in 44 games and 31 in 40 prior to that. In total 129 goals in 275 total appearances but over the last four seasons 113 goals in 183 games. Over that stretch Giroud has 81 goals in 179 games and Welbeck scored 23 in 97 matches.

The most important part about this transfer are the implications on FIFA 18 Ultimate Team. For the past few years Lacazette has long been a cult favorite among FUT players. A striker with plenty of pace, high finishing ability and a plentiful lot of In-Form cards every year. His French nationality makes him an easy link for chemistry and the one thing holding him back (Ligue 1 chemistry) is now gone. Adding Lacazette into the mix for all Premier League squads is down right dangerous and dirty. It’s a great thing for Ultimate Team and it’s a great signing for the Premier League even if Arsenal are the beneficiaries.
